Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our final investigation of the year at the Theatre Royal in Workington, which once again proved to be an interesting night! Due to the reduced group size, we started the night all together in the auditorium, and we didnt have to wait long for our first burst of activity with some great responses on the catball on the stage alongside some K2 spikes. We determined that we were communicating with a little girl and she liked the ball, happily touching it when asked to but reluctant to tell us her age or association to the building. We conducted an EVP session alongside this, which triggered the catball to go off constantly for a solid few minutes- something Ive never seen happen before- and on playing the recording back we heard a whispery voice that seemed to say Rachel or Angel when we asked for her name. Micky placed Eleanor the doll on the stage near the catball and we asked if the spirit would interact with her, to which we saw the dolls eyes change from red to green and the K2 on her chest spike, but after this she chose to go back to the catball. We tried a spirit box session hoping to hear more from our new friend, and instead we heard three adult voices- two male and a female- who seemed to alternate between talking to each other and responding to us and we got the names Sam and Bob coming through and the gym being mentioned when we asked both where to go/not go. Whilst in the auditorium, small knocks and bangs could be heard with breezes and bursts of cold air being felt by a few of our customers. We noted that the temperature on the gauge was 58.8 F when we entered the room and had dropped considerably to 50.2 F throughout the activity, before then dropping to 49.8 F when asked if it could be brought down any further. Once this activity had settled down, we split into smaller groups, with group one starting in the top room in the new part of the building, which we figured was the gym due to the boxing equipment in the corner. Upon entering the room a few of us mentioned how warm it felt here compared to the rest of the building, and how stuffy and unwelcoming it felt. We had two K2s out, both of which were flickering between the first and second green dot in sync but as this was so regular and frequent we were struggling to determine whether these were the yes/no answers we were hoping for or if they were happening regardless, and shortly after our customers K2 drained and switched off unexpectedly. One guest in particular was feeling incredibly warm, except for her knees which were freezing cold, and we realised it was possible her name had come through earlier in the night as a response we had been struggling to decipher. The other equipment in the room wasnt interacted with, so we tried the spirit box again to see if we could get any more answers, and once again we heard the two male voices and the female with notable responses being brother and sister when we asked for their relation. After a break, group one headed down into the cellar where we once again had some good spirit box responses and talking ITC, but nothing on the other equipment. A strong male voice identified himself as Dave, and a female asked if she was in hell. We got the response Workington when we asked where we were, and then more responses of fire, burning and flames which we had heard upstairs too. We got considerably less swearing this time, as last time we visited Workington the cellar was quite hostile, but both Dave and the female spirit seemed quite happy to talk to us until we started hearing leave responses coming through and at this point the spirit box started to crackle and beep, before turning off completely even though the battery should have been able to last through at least another two investigations! We moved on into the upstairs bar area, and immediately had some K2 spikes and Scott (who is normally unphased) mentioned how anxious and unwelcome he felt in the room. We split the room in two to maximise the rest of the time we had left, with two customers on the ouija board and two with the SB-7 spirit box, with more answers coming through such as Anna or Hannah, twins and more references to a fire. The planchette on the ouija board was slowly moving across the board but struggling to land on a firm response. Group two also experienced equipment turning off with the SLS, thermal imaging camera, SB-11, Spiritbox and Nanopod all switching off even though they were all fully charged and with new batteries, with Micky testing them again today and them all working perfectly! Another interesting experience was that during the walk around Micky asked the venue owner if the two dehumidifiers in the cellar could be turned off as they were creating a lot of noise, which he assumed he had as they were totally quiet when both groups were down there, but when he went back at the end of the night to switch them back on they were both already going full blast! Over all, a good night with plenty of steady responses and interesting activity, and interestingly, on returning home and checking back through the write up from our last visit, Ive noticed some great similarities! We also had brother and sister responses, spirit boxes unexpectedly turning off or draining in the cellar and plenty of references to a fire.
